SqueezeCam - Support for installing battery
  • If after you install the battery, the camera does not start when you press the mode button, the battery may not be installed correctly. Try this solution: There is a metal plate on the battery door and a metal clip in the camera. Slide the door in place, but be sure the metal plate on the door presses down on the metal clip. This completes the electrical curcuit.

Troubleshooting PhotoKit Junior
  • If you receive an error "Director Player Error - String Expected", your program data has become corrupted. To track down what may have caused this problem, zip up the contents of the "photokitjr" folder on your local hard drive and email it to support@apte.com. The folder will be located in your application data folder in Windows. For example, in Windows XP, the "photokitjr" folder is located at c:\documents and settings\all users\application data\photokitjr. In Mac OS X, the folder is located at Macintosh HD:Users:Shared:PhotokitJR. To correct the problem, quit the program, then delete the folder "photokitjr" from your local hard drive. The next time the program is run, it will create a new data folder.

  • If you print a book cover page and notice the picture resolution is degraded, you should download and install a program update patch from our Downloads Section to correct the problem.

Troubleshooting Digital Photo Activity Kit
  • If you receive an error when going into an activity center of the Digital Photo Activity Kit that the program has performed an illegal operation or has unexpectedly quit, you may require an update patch. Check our Downloads Section to see if your version qualifies for an update.

If you have version 1.3 or later of the product, you do not need an update patch.

  • If you receive a message about sound control.x32, your sound card may not be operating correctly and may require an updated driver. Alternatively, you can adjust the audio acceleration to a lower setting to eliminate the errors. To do this, open the Sounds and Audio Devices control panel, click the Audio tab, click the Advanced button, click the Performance tab, then adjust the slider for Hardware Acceleration to a lower setting. Click OK, then click OK again to save the setting.

  • If the page orientation is incorrect when printing or previewing your projects on the Mac, you may need to set up your printer again. The Digital Photo Activity Kit will automatically select the proper page orientation depending on the type of document, and settings should not be changed manually. If the printer is set up incorrectly, the program may not be able to automatically select the proper orientation. The program will prompt you to set up your printer (usually only once) the first time you print or preview your project within the Digital Photo Activity Kit. The prompt will indicate that the application needs your assistance in setting up the Printer, and that it would like you to select "Portrait" Mode in the next box that appears. Click OK. Select "Portrait" mode, and click then OK. Then it will ask you to select "Landscape" mode from the next box. Click OK. When the next box appears, select Landscape mode and click OK.

The Digital Photo Activity Kit requires certain print settings for certain activities. For example, the Book Report can only be printed in Portrait mode and the Certificate can only be printed in Landscape page orientation.

If your print-outs are in the wrong orientation, try the following steps to correct the problem:

    1. Quit the Digital Photo Activity Kit.
    2. Go to your printer's manufacturer's website and download the latest drivers for your printer.
    3. After installing these, restart your computer.
    4. Open up Macintosh HD>System Folder>Preferences.
    5. Delete your printer's Preferences. For example, if you are using an Epson printer, there is a folder called Epson Preferences.
    6. Delete the PrintOMatic Preference.
    7. Start the Digital Photo Activity Kit.
    8. Go to Special Events>Certificate>Of Recognition.
    9. Click on "View".
    10. You will again be prompted to select Portrait and Landscape modes for your printer. Follow the on screen instructions carefully.

Disk full error trying to copy xobglu16.dll into windows directory
  • On Windows 2000 and XP networks, some Apte programs require that you be logged into your system as a power user or administrator. An update may be available for the program which will allow users with lower access levels to use it. To request an update, send email to support@apte.com. Be sure to include the full name of the Apte product, version and language in your request. Note: Please do not request an update unless you own an Apte product. If you are experiencing a problem with another company's product, you should contact the manufacturer of that product and request that they update their code to Macromedia Director 8.0 or later.

Colors seem incorrect or the graphics appear distorted
  • Your video adapter may be set to the incorrect color depth. Most Apte products will run well when the video adapter is set to 16, 24, or 32-bit color (thousands and millions of colors). Some products, such as Mission to Planet X and Search for the Black Rhino, may perform better when executed in 8-bit color (256 colors). Refer to the product documentation for the recommended setting.

  • Your video driver may be corrupted or outdated. You may not necessarily experience problems with other programs, but the problem surfaces when your system is placed under the extra demand of a multimedia application. Obtain an updated driver from the video adapter's manufacturer, or from Microsoft Windows Update. Many manufacturers have easy-to-use driver download areas on their web site.

  • A detailed list of tips for troubleshooting video driver problems can also be obtained from Macromedia. A useful reference is http://www.macromedia.com/support/director/

If you need assistance with the installation of your video driver, you should contact the manufacturer of the video adapter.
